Kodansha is an international publishing company, headquartered in Japan with subsidiary operations in the US, responsible for English-language manga and Japan-based fiction and non-fiction books.

Since inception in 1909, in Japan, Kodansha has pursued the new, the exciting—the impossible. With a devotion to curiosity and creativity comes a tradition of innovation. For decades, they nurtured a dynamic roster of artists and collaborators across genres, building a legacy of inspired voices, narratives and platforms.

With its growth, Kodansha US found the need for a publishing system that suited its unique business and rapid growth. Having received a recommendation from another manga publisher, Alvin Yu of Kodansha USA was introduced to Pubtech in 2019. This introduction was the beginning of its evolution to a new Trilogy publishing system. With the challenges of converting to a new system, a phased approach was adopted to minimize risk to the business. Pubtech, working closing with the US team, has implemented a new Trilogy system along with Kodansha requested, custom functionality to further adapt the tools required for the fast growing Manga business. A key part of the implementation was Dispilio, Pubtech’s cloud based reporting system. The Kodansha US team look forward to working with Pubtech and Trilogy, adding advanced functionality to enhance their business processes.
